FAQs

How do I contact CLP to get an appointment?

Look for the salmon colored box at the top of the page that says “Get Started.” Click there and complete the contact form, and please remember to add a phone number where we can contact you. One of us will get back to you as soon as possible to schedule an appointment and/or answer any questions you might have. If you would prefer to get your initial questions answered via email, that is also fine. Simply indicate that. If you know which clinician you are considering, you can specify that so that particular clinician will know to contact you.

What can I expect from my first phone call with a CLP clinician?

The purpose of this call is to answer any general questions you might have about our Practice Policies and to schedule the intake appointment. You may briefly share what you are looking for to gain clarification about whether the clinician you’ve selected will be able to meet your needs, but there won’t be enough time during this initial call to explore your reasons for seeking care in any depth. That is what the first appointment is for :)

How should I prepare for the intake appointment?

After our initial phone call, you will be asked to complete an Informed Consent document. We can discuss this during our initial phone call. There is nothing else you need to do as you will be guided by the caring inquiry of your clinician during the intake appointment. That said, some people benefit from organizing their thoughts ahead of time by writing why they are seeking care at this time and how they hope to benefit from it. If you choose to do this, you may share it with your clinician or not. It’s also totally ok not to do this!

What if I’m not sure if therapy or the therapist is the right fit for me?

Don’t worry if you are initially hesitant or unsure. That’s very normal! If, after the first appointment, you have a terrible feeling about the match with the clinician you’ve selected, you might consider a different option. If, however, you have mixed feelings or are unsure, it might be worth exploring this over a few sessions. It is not unusual for relationship patterns to get activated in psychotherapy. In fact, it is often an important part of the work that allows you to heal, repattern, and ultimately shift your other relationships, perhaps most importantly your relationship with yourself.

Do you work with children?

We happily work with adolescents (age 16+), young and older adults.

If my adolescent (minor) child is the client, how will I (parent) stay involved?

This will vary by the needs of the adolescent and parent. Parents should plan to be present for at least a portion of the initial intake appointment. After that, frequency of parental involvement can be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Will the video session be on a secure website?

Yes. All sessions are conducted on a HIPAA compliant video platform. You do not need to download an app or add anything to your computer. Your appointment will include a link to a secure website that the session will occur on.

How do I get to the video conferencing website?

Once you have a confirmed appointment, you will receive an access link.
